welcome

It is a great feeling welcoming everyone to the upcoming garden season settled in our new location. Even SARA finally completed her migration, I guess it makes sense that she would wait until fall. With the “big move” now behind us we look back upon one crazy year and wonder how we did it. In hind sight we should have accepted some of the many generous offers of help with moving, I'm not sure what we were thinking.

Last summer we had no display gardens and all of the seedlings were still in Cayuga. This year daylily bloom season promises to be back to normal. An attraction for many will be the large number of selected seedlings in pots. These will be available for purchase over the course of the summer as we make our final choices for introduction.

With a trial season to get our bearings and the opportunity to now focus on one property, we have a better idea of the direction that we want to follow. We remain a leading source for cutting edge daylilies and hostas, our focal point. A good balance of perennials, shrubs, small trees, roses, hanging baskets, annuals, planters, etc. will better serve those seeking more of a general garden centre destination. Last year we ran out of many plants too early, so a larger inventory of ferns, heuchera, echinacea, etc. should ensure a good selections later into the season. Ornamental grasses continue to gain momentum as gardeners deal with increasingly tough conditions and we have added some spectacular new ones. Also new, and a plant we will be offering ( as well as using extensively ourselves for it's outstanding colour ) is Rhus "Bali Tiger", or "Tiger Eye Sumac". Not your ordinary Sumac!

In addition to helping customers with plant selection Dorothy has opened a GIFT SHOP featuring cast iron pieces (large & small) amongst other interesting items for home and garden. We have also become a little carried away with our own PONDS and although we are not professing to being anywhere near experts, Paul has sourced knowledgeable suppliers of top quality products. For those needing supplies, Oase and Microbe-Lift products will be available. If anyone is looking to explore water gardening, we will share our research with anyone who wants to "jump in" with us. (B.Y.O.B.... Bring your own Boots)

Our site is visitor friendly and groups, large or small, are most welcome. We are working towards have something of offer almost everyone, even if it's just a bench in the shade! Hope many of you can get down our way, but if not, we will keep you posted via this web site.

Happy Gardening!
Jack

The catalogue

We still appreciate that nothing can compare to flipping through plant catalogues while waiting for the spring thaw, or wandering through the gardens scribbling on a dog-eared plant list. However, we simply cannot offer all the images and information that we’d like to in a printed format without the costs being reflected in our prices. For this reason the catalogue has been designed as a companion document to the web site.If you would like to be put on our mailing list to receive next year's catalogue please contact us.
