Potting Shed Slug Control

In a 1 litre spray bottle combine:

• 1/4 cup of ammonia
• squirt of dish soap

Fill the bottle with water.

Mist the hosta leaves on the top and underside. Spray is most effective if used early morning or in the evening when slugs are feeding. Direct contact kills adults and egg masses. Repeat as required.

May also be used as a soil drench mixed 1part ammonia to 10 parts water and applied sparingly with a watering can.

Early in the spring target areas slugs may have over-wintered.

Our shade houses have been set up end to end creating a tunnel of potted shade plants, primarily hostas, that leads into a new shade garden. Many of our mature plants were transplanted as clumps and should make for a good display this year. We do not list hosta prices as we can usually equal or better our competition by matching price to the quality and size of plants. We also specialize in premium size plants that may appear pricey for those who are comparison shopping on-line. It is kind of like comparing apples and oranges.
